Members of the Young Democratic Socialists of America (YDSA) Host Johnstown PSL at IUP

Berkana Luciferia has written a second post on the site about a meeting between the Young Democratic Students of America (YDSA) and the Party for Socialism and Liberation (PSL) at IUP.

This past Thursday, the Johnstown PSL was invited to IUP by the local Young Democratic Socialists of America (YDSA) chapter to host another showing of Gaza Fights for Freedom, in an effort to draw in numbers, establish a relationship with members of the community, and collaborate with one another on future events, campaigns, and direct actions. The YDSA has only been on campus since last spring and has been struggling to get itself off the ground ever since. Students had distributed leaflets, hung up flyers, and let the IUP community know of the event a day prior via word of mouth. Overall, the event was well attended, with most of the room filled with attendees. Following the showing, more experienced comrades guided the direction of the conversation through adamant listening, asking plenty of questions, and the discussion of their own experiences with community organizing in the growing anti-imperialist movement.

On Wednesday April 10th at 6:00 PM, the HAVEN Project is hosting an event called Take Back The Night to raise awareness for survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault that will feature sign making, temporary tattoos, survivors’ stories, and a march across campus. Community activists, organizers, organizations, and members of all varieties are encouraged to attend.

Worldwide, women and gender-oppressed peoples of the working class have been valiantly fighting for their national and class liberation. National liberation wars in occupied Palestine, Peru, Turkey, and the Philippines, as well as the mass revolts against global imperialism in places like the Congo and Sudan have shown to the international community that the construction of a new society upon the ashes of capitalist exploitation is no easy task. The Young Democratic Socialists of America heroically salute all those who have lost their lives and continue to live on through the valor of their struggle.
