Lyrical Capo has covered this weekend’s Stand with Letter Carriers Rally in Johnstown at the Central Park Gazebo this past Sunday (while I was at the Appalachian Studies Association conference). Her report is below.
“Community Unites to Save USPS!”
On Sunday, March 23rd, at 1 p.m., the community came together to fight against the dismantling of the United States Postal Service (USPS) by the Trump administration at the Central Park Gazebo in Johnstown, PA. Standing with letter carriers and community members, protesters rallied to save our vital postal service.

State Representative Frank Burns, local leaders like mayoral candidate Sylvia King and local union leaders took the stage to express their strong opposition to the shutdown. They highlighted the devastating effects it would have on our community, including:
– Loss of jobs and economic stability
– Disruption of essential services, like prescription delivery and social security checks
– Increased costs and reduced access to mail services, particularly for rural areas
By saving USPS, we preserve a critical institution that supports our community’s well-being. The community’s unity and determination on March 23rd sent a strong message to our representatives.

How do you think we can continue to make our voices heard and save the USPS? Share your thoughts and concerns on the Stand with Letter Carriers Rally in the comments below!
