On Sunday, September 11, 20-30 people gathered in Johnstown’s Central Park to protest efforts to limit Women’s right to abortion in Pennsylvania. The Johnstown Rally for our Reproductive Rights was organized by Adrienne and Kierson Daily. Kierson Daily read a statement from Rachel Allen paying homage to the victims of Sept 11, 2001. Rachel Allen couldn’t be there because of COVID. The Cambria County Democratic party was present registering voters for the upcoming midterms.
Speakers at the rally were 2018 Ms. Wheelchair, PA Barb Zablotney (previously interviewed on this site), Pittsburgh Women’s March organizer Tracey Baton, State Senate candidate (in Somerset and Fayette Counties) Sydney Hovis, Penn State Hershey Medical Student Megan Elizabeth, Somerset County Transgender activist Alexis Zinovenko, Dena Staley, director of TransYOUniting, an advocacy organization for the Trans Community, and Blayre Holmes Davis, director to media relations for the Pittsburgh Steelers and the wife of Democratic Lt. Gov. candidate Austin Davis. The turnout was good in spite of the rainy weather and the Steelers playing at the same time.

After the speakers were done, some of the rally goers marched around downtown Johnstown. The Johnstown Tribune-Democrat and WTAJ TV in Altoona covered the rally. You can see WTAJ’s coverage of the rally here. Unfortunately I was unable to film all of the speakers at the Johnstown Rally for our Reproductive Rights! I will be uploading other videos to this post later in the week from my friends who were also taking videos to give the other speakers their due.
