Each year the Northern Appalachian Folk Festival is celebrated in Indiana, PA. Musicians, vendors and local activists were present. The video below is from the event. The first 8 minutes were livestreamed with my GoPro. I’m still getting the hang of it.
First, I met activists from Friends of Yellow Creek State Park in the video above. Below is the footage that was not livestreamed. I could not combine the two types of videos into one. Here, I met with the Indiana County Democrats. They plan to have a big rally on the IUP campus on October 23rd. I also spoke with the Lumber Heritage Region and the Center for Community Growth about their efforts to revitalize the region.
The Northern Appalachian Folk Festival was created by retired IUP Sociology Professor Jim Dougherty. Previously, he was interviewed for this website in 2023. I repost it here below. He is now unable to enjoy the festival he created because he has severe osteoporosis.
Unfortunately, I was unable to attend the next day where contributor Nick Brisini was honored along with 2 others as Northern Appalachian Poet Laureates. Later, he will be able to come with me to the Festival of Books in the Alleghenies. By then, I should have the bugs worked out of livestreaming.
