In the heart of Oakhurst, a beacon of hope shines bright. Put People First! PA (PPF-PA), a member-led organization driven by everyday working-class people, is on a mission to fight for healthcare rights, community welfare, and human dignity. With over 13 years of experience, PPF-PA has been a vocal advocate for the rights of Pennsylvania’s citizens, particularly in Central Appalachia.

Their recent meeting at the Oakhurst community center was a testament to their commitment to empowering communities. What made this event truly special was the provision of childcare and a meal, ensuring that everyone could participate without barriers. This is more than just a meeting – it’s a movement.
PPF-PA’s objective is clear: to build a force that puts people first. They’re organizing across the state through their five Healthcare Rights Committees and members in 40 counties. With Medicaid cuts affecting over 100,000 people in Pennsylvania, their work is more crucial than ever.¹
