Last Thursday the Cambria County Democratic candidate forum was held at the Ebensburg VFW. The speakers were County Commissioners B.J. Smith and Tom Chernisky, Candidate for Judge Tim Sloan, candidate for Register of Wills Sharon Burk, County Controller Ed Cernic, and Recorder of Deeds candidate Faylynn Hall. County chair Nina Licastro and vice chair Nick Molnar emceed the event.
There is little drama in the local elections. The race for County Executive in Allegheny County is the most hotly contested race in the area. It is between Former State Rep Sara Innamorato and local businessman Joe Rockey, Innamorato is a member of the Democratic Socialists of America. She was elected to the state house by upsetting incumbent Dom Costa.
The race for the State Supreme court could have ramifications for abortion rights and other issues. The Cambria Democratic Candidate Forum drew a decent size crowd. We will find out how the candidates fared on Tuesday night. The 2024 election battles begin on Wednesday.
