Roe v. Wade 50th Anniversary Rally and Democratic Meet and Greet

Video of the Rally

On Sunday, I covered both the Roe vs. Wade 50th anniversary and the Democratic meet and greet. There was a good turnout for the Johnstown rally for the 50th anniversary of the Roe vs. Wade decision by the Supreme Court. Twenty people came with no hecklers or troublemakers. WJAC TV came to cover the rally. Above is the video I made of the rally. Some who went to the rally also went to the Cambria County Democratic Party Meet and Greet at the Boulevard Grill in Johnstown.

Cambria Democratic Meet & Greet

At the Democratic party meet and greet, there were speeches by candidates for the state Superior and Commonwealth courts. Both courts handle appeals before the state Supreme Court will take up the issue. Abortion is likely to one of the issues that they will face.

Later we had speeches by the county Democratic chair Nina Licastro, county treasurer Misti Smith and Todd Holsopple of All in PA. Licastro spoke on the importance of local as well as statewide offices, Smith spoke on fundraising efforts for the party, and Holsopple spoke on efforts to mobilize the youth vote.

Finally, there were speeches by the two Democratic county commissioners, Tom Chernisky and P.J. Smith and county controller Ed Cernic, Jr. They spoke on the need to keep the county budget balanced and how they were able to raise salaries for county children and youth services workers (see link below). Not present was Cambria Democratic state Rep Frank Burns. I am still honing my video editing skills for both the Roe vs. Wade 50th anniversary and the Democratic meet and greet.
