Today I interviewed Shannon Burch Errett. She is a GJSD school board candidate. Burch Errett is running as a write in candidate. GJSD stands for Greater Johnstown School District. We spoke for 17 minutes.
In the most recent estimates from the Census Bureau, GJSD had the 5th highest poverty rate in Pennsylvania in 2023 at 36.6%. In 2022 GJSD was 2nd in PA at 40.4%.
Her main issue if elected in promoting communication between the schools and the families. We also discussed other issues such as poverty, consolidation of districts.
Shannon Burch Errett is running against established school board candidates. We will find out on November 4 if she is a successful GJSD school board candidate.
