With the recent assassination of Charlie Kirk in still in the news I thought I would take a look at his organization Turning Point USA in the Alleghenies. According to their map of chapters there are 27 chapters in the region. Of these, 18 are on college campuses, 5 are in high schools and 4 are unaffiliated. The unaffiliated chapters are called activism hubs. The table below shows what information they present on each chapter.
I did not pay a lot of attention to Charlie Kirk or Turning Point USA before his death and was surprised by the response to it afterwards. The Southern Poverty Law Center does not classify them as a hate group but they have documented their campaign against DEI. The Blair County GOP is having a candlelight vigil in Hollidaysburg on October 14 (his Birthday). Next year I will take a look at whether or not the reach of Turning Point USA in the Alleghenies will have increased.
