I finally heard back from the Southern Poverty Law Center on the Evergreen white nationalist group in Bedford, PA. The Evergreen group is totally different from the local musical group, the Evergreens. They sent me the following information:

Evergreen is a group of white nationalist women that was founded in 2021 by Allyson McKevitt in Bedford, PA. McKevitt is married to Mike McKevitt, a leader in the National Justice  Party (NJP). Evergreen generally functions as an all-female auxiliary group for the all-male NJP. Evergreen has a small online presence and appears to focus their energy on organizing and partnering with the NJP to hold conferences and events (such as Operation White Christmas focused on gift donations to White children), and supporting members of the NJP. Evergreen also holds fundraisers and events for NJP supporters, often geared at families.  The group has shared racist tropes about the superiority of white families. They have shared content about the importance of white women in the white nationalist movement, in their role as mothers only.  Evergreen appears to advocate that white mothers are the front lines of the battle to stop the “great replacement” occurring in the U.S. This is based on the racist antisemitic great replacement theory. Under this theory, the group claims that White mothers are needed to make white babies to stop the demographic shift underway. The group expresses harmful ideas about raising children in white households under the rule of the white patriarch. The group has expressed antisemitic and racist ideas about Jewish and Black people destroying white culture. The group has engaged in explicit and implicit anti-Black racism suggesting that the cultures of non-white communities are inherently degenerate, unhealthy, uncivilized, or have low-IQ.  SPLC has listed this group as a white nationalist hate groups since 2021.

**Analysis**

Evergreen’s online presence is on the website Telegram, a right wing equivalent of Twitter. They have more than 1,880 followers on the site. The National Justice Party has more than 10,200 followers on the site. Evergreen’s posts on Telegram include ones in support of labor strikes in Pittsburgh, anti trans posts, and antisemitic.

The photo at the top of the post is from an interview given by the McKevitts that is on a right wing version of YouTube called Odysee. The interview is not linked to here as the discussion is offensive. According to the photo, Michael McKevitt is a veteran. The military can serve as a breeding ground for these beliefs. Trying to combine their movement to labor movements is an old tactic for base building. Also using innocent sounding names like Evergreen and the National Justice Party makes it easier to lure new recruits.

The white nationalist Evergreen Group in Bedford is not well known in its hometown. When I telephoned the local paper the Bedford Gazette, they had never heard of them. Hopefully this post will shine a badly needed spotlight on them. Their parent organization, the National Justice Party is based in Dayton, OH. Banning these groups from traditional social media sites like Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube makes it harder for them to spread their vitriol but it also makes these groups harder to track.

**Update**

According to an email from the Southern Poverty Law Center, Evergreen and it’s parent organization, the National Justice Party, disbanded in December 2023. I would like to think our reporting had something to do with it.
